Loafers are at it again! Although a classic shoe style, loafers have been a strong shoe type for fall to spring in the past few years, especially in lug sole form.

Yes, lug and platform styles are still going strong, but these 7 new stylish contenders are making a run for the top, this Fall, as micro-shoe trends.

Retailers have them stocked aplenty, top shoe brands have them in their current collections, all meaning they will be a hot commodity this season and sell out fast! Here are the top loafer style and color trends.

1. Block Heeled Loafers

A blast from the past, as I wore these in high school! When the likes of Prada and Tods have multiple styles in their FAll collections, you know they will be HOT.

This heeled loafer will fit both preppy and funky styles, but can be styled just as you would with any pump or loafer.

And depending on the heeled loafer style you choose, you can give an eclectic granny vibe to your outfit.

This is the perfect loafer option to wear under a suit, a wide leg pant, with a black mini dress or pleated midi. And of course, you can always up the trend factor by wearing them with ankle socks!

2. Colorblock & Two-Tone Loafers

Two-tone loafers are trending loafers for fall in 2 main colorways. First, in contrasting black and white. Second, in brown, tan, black and white combos.

I've seen them all come in a variety of loafer styles. Literally all of them, from staple penny loafers to heeled and slingbacks.

These are a great way to spruce up any black pants and white shirt outfits, or paired with a fab all black or neutral look. For easy styling, match one of the loafer colors with a main item in your fit.

3. Tassel & Fringe Loafers

I'm a huge fan of tassels and fringe loafers and they are back, baby! From little hanging leather tassels, to a kiltie layer–or both–this style never gets old.

Tassels seem to pop up on all kinds of loafers, including penny loafers, lug sole loafer and heeled styles. As colorblocking, they are everywhere!

4. Slingback Loafers

With slingback pumps trending for the past 3 seasons, it's no surprise that we see this shoe style in combination with loafers going strong for Fall 2024.

These come with different shaped heels, while some are flat. The perfect shoes for warmer Fall climates. They're kind of like like the mullet of shoes: business in the front and a party in the back!

Ideally, you can wear slingback loafers just as you would regular loafers, avoiding pant lengths where the hem will catch between your foot heel and the shoe.

5. Burgundy Loafers

Red has been hot for spring/summer and burgundy is it for Fall–especially in the loafer department. Burgundy loafers are stylish, easy to wear and if you choose a burgundy-meets-brown color, it will never go out of style. Promise!

6. Silver Loafers

Ok, so silver shoes are a big shoe trend for Fall 2024. And one of the most prominent forms I've seen it is in flat form, like loafers.

Mirror silver loafers aren't that difficult to style, as it's a metallic that plays well with other colors. They're also a perfect shoe to wear from work to play during the holiday season to give your outfit a little holiday sparkle!

Other Trending Loafer Styles

As mentioned, lug sole and platform loafers are still trending on well into winter of next year. So if you love them, keep on wearing them! I know I will.

Also continuing its way into Fall 2024 are penny loafers. As the most classic version of the style, we have to ask ourselves if they were ever out in the first place!

They didn't really, but with the preppy and collegiate aesthetic in fashion going strong, they continue to be a great shoe to add to your fall outfits.

Final Trending Thoughts

As always, wear what you want–I am just the shoe trend messenger. Don't come for me!

Always prioritize your own personal style. This means to wear what you feel most in tune with and what is most comfortable for you.

And if this happens to be some of the trending loafers like above, so be it! I'm rather keen on the black and white loafers, myself. They remind me of my favorite grey/black tassel loafers I styled here.
