Question: Can you wear white shoes after Labor Day?
This is a question I've actually been asked a few times in my shoe blogging “career”. Answering whether we can, in fact, wear white footwear after labor day heavily depends on where you are located in this circular little world! Someone like me, who currently lives in Toronto, Canada would definitely answer that questions a little differently than say, a woman living in Miami or Sydney, Australia. That being said, it also depends on when it is you plan on wearing those white shoes!
At the beginning or the end of Fall? In the middle of winter? What are the current weather conditions like? What kind of shoes will you be wearing: stiletto heels, chunky heeled pumps, booties or hefty winter boots? Yeesh; so many factors can contribute to an answer! Most importantly, however is if the “no white after labor day” rule is something you believe in, or not! We're currently in the middle of Fall 2014 in Toronto. The temperatures right now are approximately 12 celsius, no snow, rain or snow, which makes me answer with a huge YES! Unless you're morally obligated not to, you can wear white shoes after labor day. In my humble opinion, I believe that the ‘no white after labor day' rule in an archaic & stupid one. And really, unless there's a serious possibility that you might *GASP* ruin your shoes or freeze to death in white stiletto sandals, white shoes are A-OK & happen to be hugely popular this particular Fall/Winter season. Just look at what's trending on Pinterest!
But since it is a little chilly outside, layering in order to “winterize” my white Alexander Wang “Lovisa” pumps, is the best option. So I've added a colorful Peter Pilotto for Target cardi over a Joe Fresh camo tee & my favorite black purse. These, I've topped with my GAP black/white stripe scarf. Now I'd also be prone to wear a peacoat on top of it all, but I didn't want to drown out the mix of colors & patterns! And of course, destroyed boyfriend jeans are always great addition to these pumps (and any pumps, really!), as would be a pair of skinny black scuffed up jeans, which I just happened to purchase today 😉
So after intensely analyzing this deeply philosophical shoe styling question, please tell me: Can you wear white shoe after labor day? If so, how would you wear your white heels or white boots in the Fall or Winter?

Great loo, Cristina, and I agree with you about wearing white shoes after Labor Day. It's a fashion do as far as I am concerned. There is no reason not to wear what makes us happy; regardless of those old fashion etiquette rules it is about staying true to one's own personal style preferences.
