Thought the shoe design from my Martin Margiela Freak-Shoe Friday post was horrifying? Well then, aren't these a special treat for your eyeballs? I actually don't know what is more hysterical: the shoes themselves, or the straight-faced models who look like they should be wearing Hermes riding boots rather than a part of the horse itself. I must say that the male model on his own is pee-in-pants laughter inducing! Maybe it's because he looks a little like Gerard Butler?
Commissioned by Betfair as a suggestion for what folks should wear to the racetrack at the British Cheltenham Festival's 100th anniversary, these zip-up hooves will go on sale at a cringe-worthy approx. US price of $2,100. After all, they are made out of 5,000 individual horse hairs & available in women's and men's sizes. Not convinced? Yeah, neither am I.
The only positive thing to come out of these repulsive shoes? That all proceeds go towards charity. Oh, and they're limited edition, which means they'll hopefully disappear shortly. And then we can go about our day-to-day lives pretending they never existed in the first place.
That is all.
