If you prioritize comfortable shoes and want to take them into Fall 2024, don't worry. Sneakers continue to be heavily in style for this season, in a variety of styles and colors, so there's something for everyone.

If you're interested in the specific fall sneaker trends, you'll find some newer ones this fall, but many have been trickling in since spring/summer.

There are many contrasting trends, like chunky vs slim styles and bright colors vs neutrals, making all the sneakers available this season much more interesting!

9 Top Fall 2024 Sneaker Trends for Women

4 Trending Styles & Shapes

Trending Sneaker styles this season are seemingly everywhere on the sneaker spectrum! That's because chunky, slim, neutral to bold colors and prints, and retro to more updated styles all seem to be trending at the same time.

Slimline Sneakers

Nothing new here! The slim profile sneaker like the now overly trended Adidas Sambas are being drawn into the current Fall 2024 season. Only change? Color.

But this time around, we're leaving the white/light grey with black detailing sneakers behind. Instead, fashionistas will be reaching for a bold color pop, beige-based neutral, or high-shine silver.

Athletic Runners & Hiking Styles

Running and walking style shoes have been trending for over a year now, but are still going strong. These have been seen mostly with a white mesh fabric base with overlays of shiney silver and dark stripes and swoops.

Most notable? New Balance 530s to Asics Gel Kayanos, You can spot these sneakers worn with leggings or contrasting a little dress. With crew socks, of course!

Hiking shoes have been lightly trickling in since, with a few key street style stars and influencers donning them to contrast their tiered maxi skirts and dresses. The most coveted styles started from Salomon with their contrasting lace loops.

You can now find them in fun colors and patterns from many sports shoe brands and fashion brands like Flower Mountain sold at Free People.

Definitely a sneaker trend on the rise and perfect for fall, even winter and spring, when I predict these styles will start really popping off.

Retro Sneaker Styles

Although retro sneakers are trending Fall 2024 sneakers, I have to ask whether they ever really did go out of style? At this point many have become classics.

And it's had to define which ‘retro style' is actually in because many older styles are brought back and reborn in various forms and colors–from the likes of Adidas, Nike and more off-the-radar brands like Tretorn and Gola. Some are slim and other chunkier.

If you have New Balance 574s hanging around, especially in contrasting bright or neutral colors, it's time to resurrect them!

4 Trending Colors & Prints/Patterns

In terms of sneaker color trends for fall 2024, you've got a few. These include silver, bright colors, contrasting colors and beige/tan-toned neutrals.

Silver Sneakers

I love a metallic sneaker, so I'm thrilled that silver shoes are trending for Fall! They come in high shine to a more matted silver, with contrasting white, beige or black detailing. I actually received a pair of these silver Alohas and I can't wait to style and review them for you!

Silver is one of those colors that go with everything and is very easy to style. You can easily wear them to jazz up pantsuit, a pair of jeans or a cute dress.

This one's definitely more of a micro-trend, but I have to say that when gold shoes were trending back in the 2010s, I wore my gold sneakers for YEARS after that. Go for a slimline or runner style silver sneaker if longevity is what you're after.

Neutral Beige/Tan Sneakers

Neutral sneakers belong in every shoe capsule wardrobe and frankly, a beige or off-white mix of neutral hues makes for an even easier-to-style sneaker than a bright white pair.

If you get one of these neutral pairs, you will wear them for years and can take them into the spring summer season too, wearing them with sundresses, shorts & more.

Just make sure to spray them with a good all-weather shoe spray to prevent stains, water absorption and to make for easier cleaning.

Bright & Colorful Sneakers

Another micro-trend, but I love these colorful sneakers–perfect to brighten up even the most muted fall/winter outfit! You can find them in a slimline form, updated retro style and even in hiker sneaker styles.

Summer was full of red and green shoes, and although these are still trending, I would opt for a more original color like orange or lime. My favorite is a sneaker that includes multiple contrasting colors.

If your wardrobe is less bright, you can go with almost any sneaker color. However, if have a more colorful wardrobe and are not an expert stylist, make sure the sneaker color compliments the outfits you plan on wearing them with.

Patterned & Animal Print Sneakers

Yes, animal prints are back in full force (although to me, they're a classic!). Leopard and cheetah continue to trend from summer, but we're also seeing a lot of zebra, snake and croc embossing.

If you love a leopard print sneaker, get them ASAP, as these are selling out like hotcakes. And remember leopard print shoes are easier to style than you might think. I have a post about how to pair leopard shoes with outfits if you want to have a look.

Gum Soles – Trending Design Element

And lastly, but definitely not least are gum soles. These appeared featured in the trending Samba sneaker, but this tan outsole is making its way into pretty much every trending sneaker, no matter the style!

A darker outsole is not only easier to keep clean, but it gives a great contrast to any shade, color, and printed sneaker. It gives a more relaxed feel to any sneaker, while adding longevity to the shoe.

Fall 2024 Sneaker Styling: Crew Socks + Decorated Laces

When talking about fall 2024 sneaker trends, we can't skip the styling–especially with socks. Looks like the Gen Z's have won the fashion sock wars, and crew socks (white, black or colored) continue to be adopted into most outfits with sneakers.

But we're seeing more ornate patterns, frillier frilly socks and matching socks to a pop of color in the sneaker.

When looking at sock pairings for fall, watch out for trek socks, knitted knee socks and woolly slouch socks. As far as socks with sneakers, it looks like anything goes–and the weirder, the better!

Shoelace charms have been trending on Pinterest and are a fun way to personalize and update popular sneaker styles. You can either buy them in a pre-made set ready to attach to your favorite pair, or DIY them.
